The reasoning heart

Have they not travelled throughout the land so their hearts may reason, and their ears may listen? Indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts in the chests that grow blind.

While not literally having a "mind" in the same way as the brain, the heart does possess its own nervous system, often called a "little brain," which allows it to function independently and send signals to the brain, meaning it can be said to have some level of autonomy in regulating its own rhythm and responding to stimuli, even if not in a conscious way; so, in a sense, the heart can be considered to have "a mind of its own" to a degree as far as reseach can tell.
